Help keep Sue's work moving forward!

After nearly 22 years at the helm of Bethesda Cares, the Board of Bethesda Cares announces Susan W. Kirk's retirement. Under Sue's leadership, Bethesda Cares has grown from a two-person community Drop-In Lobby for people suffering homeless to a staff of 13 professionals, dedicated to preventing, easing and ending homelessness in Montgomery County. Sue, her team and hundreds of volunteers have successfully referred dozens of clients into housing, ending thousands of years of collective homelessness, and averted homelessness for more than 1200 clients each year. She served on 16 committees/councils. Her leadership has influenced county policy and help made possible 2015's remarkable achievement: ending veteran's homelessness in Montgomery County.

Under Sue's leadership, Bethesda Cares has helped end homelessness for dozens of people representing hundreds of years of homelessness, and kept thousands safely housed with working utilities. She was at the helm when Montgomery County ended Veteran's homelessness and has been instrumental in aiming for our goal of ending chronic homelessness.

She plans to retire November 15, 2017.
